Michael Chabon — Wonder Boys

Chabon’s use of language is so good sometimes it makes me sick. The trick is to not drop the Nabokovian word bombs too often so that readers want to hide from the blitz. Chabon easily draws his devotees out into the open where they can be flattened by the perfection of his writing. Jerk.

The movie really followed this novel pretty closely except for the excised Passover scene, which on film may have seemed too much like a Woody Allen (back when he was still a genius) piece.
